About Patricia Patricia was
born in Tuskgee Virgina, a small town in Virginia, to the late Mary L. Smith and Samuel L. Smith Sr., the middle of
thirteen children.
She had a passion for writing at the early of age of
six. She would write on anything to get her point across.
Patricia graduated
from Eastern Senior High School in Washington D.C.
Patricia spent over 20 years in
the medical field, closest to a career she dreamed of one day becoming a nurse.
Her
passion has always been to help others, even when she was hurting.
Patricia
crossed the biggest obstacle in her life, after the violent murder of her nineteen year old son, Kenny. She didn't know
how she was going to get through, but she knew with her faith in God, he would see her through.
Patricia accepted her call from God on December
29th 2007, seventeen years after Kenny's death.
Patricia
felt the need to let her voice be heard for all the mothers who could not speak, she knew the pain was too hard to bear.
In her book titled " A Silent Scream" Patricia relives her journey through the aftermath
of Kenny's shooting and subsequent death.
Patricia
traveled to share with others how God delivered her to where she is today. Patricia said she cried many times after
hearing how others like her felt how meaningless life has been after the loss a child.
Patricia
has spoken to many about the loss of a child even though her heart was still heavy.
Patricia
has set up visit to the public libraries in Atlanta Georgia where she lived until her return to her hometown in Maryland.
Since her return in 2007, Patricia has scheduled Book signing to share her message with mothers who otherwise would
have felt uneasy to share their pain.
Patricia has since appeared as a guest on WPfW Radio Station
in Washington DC. with Kenny Barnes founder of ROOT, Inc, another parent whose child was violently murdered.
Patricia attended meetings with Maryland Crime Victim Association founder Roberta Roper whose daughter was brutally
murdered.
Patricia visited with Lonias Bias mother of Lynn Bias who has also lost a child to violence,
and is a nationwide speaker for youth violence.
Patricia intends to continue to allow her voice
to be heard.
